Deacons
It is often taken for granted in Church circles that the needs of the poor and helpless are met by individual Christians responding spontaneously to God’s command “Love your neighbour as yourself”. Whilst this is ideal and necessary, the Church recognises the need to have a structured group that, not only, makes sure no one falls though the net, but assures that the pastoral care is not abused. That is why the Church has deacons.
The deacons are a group of Christians, selected from within the Church, whose spiritual gifts orientate their ministry toward practical help.
They oversee areas like logistics: arranging transport needs, food and clothing: on an emergency basis, accommodation: assisting with short-term solutions on an emergency basis, maintenance: assisting those unable to attend to basic vehicle or household repairs, and health: assisting in caring for those with short-term health issues.
If you require genuine help or know someone who does, please contact the Church office and they will put you in touch with the appropriate Deacon.
